ROOM SPOTLIGHT: STUDIO KO'S PARISIAN APARTMENT

I've long admired the work of Studio Ko. The design duo, Karl and Olivier, have masterminded a myriad of iconic places including hotels, museums, retail stores and residences. Their work is often minimal and refined as they practice a style best described as "spare elegance".

This pied-a-terre in the 8th arrondissement of Paris is a little more vibrant and exuberant than the rest of their portfolio, and I love it. The heart of the home, the living room, is a perfect example of how a historic space can be treated with respect, maintained and yet updated. The geometric and ornate ceiling is juxtaposed by curves, bold patterns and layered materials. It's the perfect melange of styles and pieces, and I often daydream about moving in.

Here are some pieces I love that can help you channel this home in your own.

1. CONCRETE END TABLE

I love the weight of this piece. The use of concrete adds a modern touch to this classic space. This particular table is the perfect size to hold a book and a drink. Use it next to a reading chair, a bathtub, or even as a nightstand.

2. WOOD ARMCHAIRS

These are the actual chairs Studio Ko uses. The chairs, crafted by Jorge Zalszupin, and made out of Brazilian Jacaranda are exquisite. The richness of the material and uniqueness of the frame instantly draws your eye to it. A fabulous addition to any room in any house.

3. CERAMIC VASE & MONSTERA LEAVES

I love discovering and supporting ceramicists. The wave pattern in the glaze on this vase is mesmerizing. I opt for real greenery whenever I can but sometimes artificial leaves win. These Monstera leaves are the perfect accent for the room.

4. GOLD COFFEE TABLE

You really can't go wrong with glass and gold. The choice for a round table that fits perfectly into the curved couch is a decision I can get behind. I love repetitive angles in a room and all the rounded edges in this one are making my heart sing.

5. VELVET CURVED CHAISE LOUNGE

Though I gravitate towards neutrals, I absolutely support a pop of color here and there. This rich blue velvet sofa is a great way to introduce exactly that into a space. I love this fabric in burnt orange and deep green as well.

Though the living room is my favorite, every room deserves design accolades. Here's a peek into the rest of the stunning Paris home...
