This July, I had the chance to partner up with Cointreau to host an intimate summer soirée in New York City to honor the art of entertaining. Hidden between the tree-lined streets of West Village, our rendezvous was hosted at Little Owl: The Townhouse, a classic pre-war brick building turned event space. The theme, "When Mexico Meets Morocco", is inspired by the cultural richness of the two places; the amazing food, the people and the love of camaraderie has always been a huge source of influence in my design. It was a magical moment that was shared with the people I love and doing what I love most — throwing a good party.
The night started with light mingling in the dimly lit basement of the townhouse. As the guest trickled in one by one, we greeted them with one of our specially crafted signature drink. My favorite, for any occasion, has to the spicy margarita… We decided to call it “Fever Dream” — a concoction which included Cointreau, blanco tequila, fresh lime juice and a splash of cucumber and firewater tincture to turn up the heat. We had fresh ingredients ready for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres were served.
We moved the party upstairs to the main floor. From the ceilings, foliage and florals hung elegantly from above, softly lit by candlelight. It was a gorgeous sight to see. We decorated the space in a warm orange town to welcome the summer days and the tablescape were lined with an array of flowers, greenery and fresh oranges, for a citric twist in the decor. What more can I ask for? But it only gets better…
I can’t even begin to talk about our three course dinner. Graciously designed by Chef Joey Campanaro, our dinner line-up was stacked. From risotto bianco to sautéed halibut in roasted carrot puree — I’d say the damage is done. It doesn’t end there. To top it off, guests were served a generous slice of vanilla cake with fresh orange and vanilla cream. However, this is not-your-mother’s vanilla cake because, wait for it… the sponge cake is soaked in Cointreau! Need I say more?
At the end of the night, after our last sip of our cocktail we said our goodnights with full hearts. I can truly say there is nothing more satisfying and fulfilling than hosting a beautiful night with amazing food and great company. Scroll down for snippets of my magical night with Cointreau.
